About the time the television was becoming a mass-market phenomenon a man by the name of John Walson was selling televisions in a great area of Pennsylvania. His customers couldn't even see the demonstration transmissions so he erected a utility pole with an antenna on top and then using cables related it to his shop. He also related customers who lived between the utility pole and his shop, inadvertently creating the first cable network.

An accessory to television would furnish even greater flexibility for the end-user. Video cassette recorders opened a wide variety of uses for the television. Home movies and copies of movies shown in theaters were now available whenever the family wanted. This positively spawned a lawsuit between Universal Studios and Sony Corp. The decision went in favor of Sony and the Vcr and ensured the goods was a mass-market success. Ironically, the movie commerce found that their tapes were a major source of income. Television was again cemented as a permanent fixture in the home.

Cable television, however, would not become real popular until Cable News Network came on the air June 1, 1980, and it positively took off. Cable television programming is now available throughout the United States and in most advanced countries. Cable would reign supreme until the next evolutionary turn in television.

The bodily device known as the television was also undergoing changes which allowed for ever greater clarity in image presentation. This would take a major step send with the arrival of the digital era, spurred on by computer technology. It was now possible to send a great deal more information over cables and over the air. Digital technology changed all things again.

Another facet of turn brought on by the digital era was the clarity of image yield on the television screen. Now we were able to see high-definition, Blu-Ray disc presentations on our televisions so real and so clear we can positively believe we are there. These innovations and many more are available on devices such as the Lg 37Le7900 which shows us the future truly looks piquant for television.
